SPRAY TAN CARE

We all want to feel beautiful and confident in our own skin. Getting a luxurious, flawless tan at The Studio by Baldwin Hair Loft is one way to do just that!
It’s time to invest in your skin with a custom sun kissed spray tan.
However, before you visit The Studio there are a few tips you should follow to make the most of your tan. Preparing your skin prior to your appointment is YOUR responsibility and  can make or break the result of your tan.

SPRAY TAN PREPARATION

  • Number one step is to exfoliate well and shave 24 hours before your tan

  • Complete all other beauty services prior to your appointment (facials, wax, manicures, pedicures and massages, etc.)

  • Rinse all lotion, deodorant, make-up and perfume off with warm water prior to your appointment. These items can create a barrier and affect the final result of your tan.

  • If you are on any type of retinol regimen please inform your technician or BHL receptionist at time of scheduling

  • If you’ve had any skin care services within the last week of your appointment please inform your technician or BHL receptionist at time of scheduling

  • If you have been sun burned in the last 7 days please inform your technician or BHL receptionist at time of scheduling

  • Please arrive to your appointment free of lotions, perfume, and make up

  • Be sure to wear/bring loose fitting pants, long sleeve shirt, and sandals.

  • If it is raining please bring an umbrella

AFTER CARE

  • Processing time will vary by client. Your technician will provide the recommended processing time following your appointment.

  • Do NOT sweat or get wet during processing time

  • Rinse in warm water (yes, you will see brown go down the drain - this is NOT your tan)

  • Do NOT use soap during your initial rinse

  • Gently rub hands over your skin to break up any stubborn bronzers

  • Do NOT shave during initial rinse

  • Exit shower and pat dry

  • Soaps and other products that contain sulfates and alcohol can strip the tan

  • When shaving, (24 hours after your tan) using lotion or conditioner is recommended

  • Hydration is key! Drink plenty of water to ensure your skin is hydrated to lock in that tan

  • The most important post tan step, MOISTURIZE!

  • Once the tan begins to fade, exfoliate the old tan off with a gentle body scrub or exfoliating mitt.

COMMON QUESTIONS

When Can I Shower?

Your technician will prescribe a designated rinsing time. To avoid a negative result, please follow this prescribed time.

How long does it last?

The tan should last anywhere from 4-9+ days. The longevity is going to vary from person to person. It will depend on the clients hormones, skin PH and how well they follow pre tan prep and post tan care. It will also depend on their level of activity.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

  • To preserve your tan, avoid swimming, long showers, baths, steam rooms, and saunas.

  • Exercising and sweating can shorten the life of the tan.

  • When using sunscreen following a spray tan, a lotion sunscreen is recommended.

  • Avoid the use of aerosol sunscreen which contain alcohol
